If we should be in the hell of sword mountain,
The mountain of swords would shatter.
If we should encounter the boiling fire hell,
The boiling fire will dissipate.
If we should go to any other hell,
That hell would also vanish.
If we should go to the realm of hungry ghosts,
The hungry ghosts will become satisfied.
If we should confront asuras,
Their evil minds will be pacified.
If we encounter animals,
They will obtain great wisdom.

First we make ablutions in the eastern direction to purify it into a place of enlightenment;
Second we likewise cleanse the southern direction to gain the refreshing coolness;
Third we cleanse the western direction to complete the pure land;
Fourth we cleasnse the northern direction to gain peace and health;

As the place of enlightenmetn is purified, not flawed or impure,
The three treasures, devas and dragons descend here;
We now uphold and recite this sublime mantra,
Vowing to bestow love and compassion as we secretly watch over everyone

All the evil ever created by me since of old,
On account of my beginningless greed, hatred, and ignorance,
Born of my conduct, speech, and thought,
I now confess open and fully.
